Our Story

Elimu ya Kenya (EYK) was founded in 2007 by a group of friends passionate about education and charity. Officially registered in May 2008 under the Societies Act, EYK is a charity organization dedicated to helping vulnerable children access education and build the foundation for a decent future. The organization's mandate is to raise funds and support educational initiatives across Kenya. It is also dedicated to fostering educational development, supporting teachers, and championing improved learning outcomes.

Since its inception, EYK has been a beacon of hope for vulnerable children, youth, and women in the coastal communities of Kisauni, Mombasa. Our flagship project, Elimu Ya Kenya School, was established with support from Education4Kenya (Germany). Today, we serve 370 children through our school, in addition to supporting hundreds more through scholarships, vocational training, and empowerment programs.

Founded in 2007, Elimu Ya Kenya began as a small scholarship fund for vulnerable children in Kisauni. Now a registered charity, its flagship school educates over 370 children.

Through its Scholarship Program, hundreds of children receive tuition, uniforms, books, and meals. which has helped them excel.

Recognizing that not every child follows an academic path, EYK launched a Vocational Training Institute offering carpentry, tailoring, fashion design, and ICT – empowering youth to become self-reliant.

Today, EYK boasts of a huge number of alumni in all spheres of life — all giving back to the community.
