Elimu Ya Kenya

Empowering Communities Through Education Since 2007

EYK Logo

Elimu ya Kenya (EYK) was founded in 2007 by a group of friends passionate about education and charity. Officially registered in May 2008 under the Societies Act, EYK is a charity organization dedicated to helping vulnerable children access education and build the foundation for a decent future.

Since its inception, EYK has been a beacon of hope for vulnerable children, youth, and women in the coastal communities of Kisauni, Mombasa. Our flagship project, Elimu Ya Kenya School, was established with support from Education4Kenya (Germany). Today, we serve over 400 children through our school, in addition to supporting hundreds more through scholarships, vocational training, and empowerment programs.

Our Ethical Framework

Child Safeguarding First

The safety of all our children is paramount. We make this clear to all our staff members and volunteers.

Accountable Stewardship

We treat every donation as a sacred trust and all funds go directly to programs they were intended for.

Community Partnership

We work with communities, not for them. Parents, local leaders, and teachers have a voice in our decision-making.

Empowerment, Not Dependency

Our goal is to equip children and families with skills and confidence to break the cycle of poverty permanently.

Our Core Values

Integrity

We act with honesty and transparency in every decision, ensuring donor funds reach the children who need them most.

Transparency

We openly share our financial status, progress, and challenges with our partners, supporters and stakeholders.

Equity

We provide equal opportunities to education regardless of gender, religion, ethnicity, or family background.

Equality

We champion equal opportunities for girls and boys, women and men, in all our programs and leadership.

Compassion

We meet every child where they are, with patience, kindness, and a genuine commitment to their wellbeing.
